As the charity that supports sport and physical activities in the RAF, we are delighted that many of the winners at the RAF Sports Awards have directly benefited from our funding.
RAF Shawbury’s Fg Off Hannah Dodwell is one of those, taking home the title of Sportswoman of the Year for 2019.
On hearing her name read out, Hannah said: “I was utterly shocked! That’s the only way to explain it. After hearing the citations for the other two girls I was up against I thought it was going to be a tough decision but still in the back of my mind I didn’t think it would be my name to be called out. The RAF Central Fund has been fundamental the past few years, enabling me to purchase my GB Age Group Trisuit, funding race entries as well as purchasing several pieces of kit that have helped excel my training and development as an athlete. Without the support from the Central Fund I wouldn’t have been able to compete at World or European Championships and get the results I’ve achieved. So thank you!”
